Caesars Palace $5 (N4033)
Caesars Palace $5 (N1387)
This is the 2nd of 4 issues with Caesar lying on a bed. This H.C. Edwards mold chip was issued in 1966, the same year that Caesars opened.
The last of the 4 issues with Caesar lying on a bed, this house mold chip was issued in 1969.
Caesars Palace $25 (N4501)
California Club $5 (N1394)
The California Club originally opened in 1946 to 1951, then reopened in 1951 and closed in 1970. This 1951 2nd issue diamond mold chip displays the California Brown Bear.
Cal-Neva Biltmore $1 (N4986)
Cal-Neva Biltmore $25 (N7432)
The Cal-Neva Biltmore located in North Lake Tahoe was only open from 1952 to 1956. They had one issue consisting of 4 denominations, each picturing a cable car using the very popular Arodie mold.
Castaways $25 (N3748)
Circus Circus 50c (N1463)
Just like the Gilligan's Island TV show, this chip was cancelled too! This 3rd issue hit the tables in the 1960's, and virtually all known samples were cancelled with a "Non-Negotiable" stamp. Someone did a nice job removing the cancellation on this particular chip.
Just to think, I was 14 when my family and I visited Circus Circus during its opening year in 1968. Fat chance that my father would have taken home any chips (let alone the higher denominations) from here or any other casino during our trip. Had we taken home a $25 chip from Circus Circus, it would be worth around $1500. If you think that's bad, check out the Flamingo Capri.
Cotton Club $5 (N0341)
Cotton Club $5 (N9516)
Issued in 1945, this is one of the premier chips of the segregated Westside clubs. Only a handful are known to exist of this historically significant and beautiful chip.
This is the 2nd $5 chip and was issued in 1953. I am normally not very fond of hot stamped chips, but for some reason I find this particular casino fascinating.
Country Club Roulette (N6360)
Country Club Roulette (N6365)
Country Club Roulette (N6366)
Country Club $100 (N7683)
This club was located in South Lake Tahoe from 1933 to 1958. This is an example of a 1st issue roulette from 1935.
Also from the Country Club after a name change in 1948, this T mold chip was issued in 1953 and pictures the hotel swimming pool.
